AI UGC video production: Reels without a shoot

Epnex Digital · 25 September 2026 · 5 min read

Short answer

A UGC video is a vertical video that presents a product not like a commercial but like a candid clip filmed on a phone. With AI production, instead of a shoot, actors and editing, a script is written from the product information, images and voice are generated, and the video is prepared in vertical format. Used well, it lets you test many versions for the same budget instead of one video. One condition: the video should present the product, not invent a fake customer experience.

Why does UGC video work?

UGC stands for "user-generated content". These videos do not look like ads in the feed; they look like the other videos: vertical, close-up, natural voice, filmed-on-a-phone feel.

The reason it works is trust. According to Nielsen's 2021 study of more than 40,000 people, 88% trust recommendations from people they know more than any other channel. The UGC format speaks that language: it says "you should know this", not "choose us".

That trust is too valuable to abuse. That is why the "honesty line" section below exists.

Creator UGC versus AI production

Filmed with a creatorProduced with AI
PreparationFind a creator, agree terms, ship the productProduct information and images
TimeUsually daysThe same day
New versionEvery version is a new shootA different opening and script, quickly
Real experienceYes: someone who used the productNo: a presentation of the product

The two are not rivals. AI lets you find out quickly and cheaply which message lands. If you want, you can then have the winning message filmed with a real creator.

How do you produce a Reel without a shoot? 5 steps

1. Introduce the product. What does it do, who is it for, what problem does it solve? What is the most common question, and the most common objection? A good video comes out of these answers.

2. Write the first 3 seconds. The viewer has to stop before scrolling past. Three opening types:

  • Question: "Why does your skin get drier in winter?"
  • Warning: "Don't buy a moisturiser before you know this."
  • Curiosity: "There are three things in this box, and one will surprise you."

3. Fit the script into 30 seconds.

0–3 sOpening
3–8 sProblem
8–20 sProduct and how it solves it
20–25 sDetail or proof
25–30 sWhat to do
The first 3 seconds decide whether the viewer stays.

4. Produce it. Images (product shots, a scene, an AI presenter if needed), voice-over and subtitles. Subtitles are a must: anyone watching with the sound off understands the video only through them. Vertical format, 9:16.

5. Make versions and test them. Prepare 3–5 different openings for the same video. Test them first in organic posts or a small-budget ad, then carry on with the winning opening.

Checklist for a good UGC video

  • Is the product or the problem visible in the first 3 seconds?
  • One video, one message?
  • Are there subtitles, and are they readable?
  • Are the product name, price and features correct?
  • Can you prove every claim in the video?
  • Is the viewer told what to do in the last seconds?
  • If there are realistic AI-generated images, are they labelled?

The honesty line: what AI video should never do

  • Invent an experience. An AI presenter should not say "I used this product and it changed my life". An experience that did not happen is a fake review.
  • Promise results you cannot prove. Especially for cosmetics, health and weight-loss products.
  • Go unlabelled. Meta asks for a label on realistic-looking AI video and states clearly that it may apply penalties if the label is missing.
  • If you work with a real creator, Turkey's Ministry of Trade guidelines for social media influencers require the post to be clearly marked as an ad (with tags such as #reklam or #işbirliği).

The safe frame is this: the video shows, explains and introduces the product. It does not invent a user experience.

Not one video, but continuous production

A single video rarely brings results. Weeks of steady production, and tracking what works, do. That is why Epnex Creative Studio is not a one-video tool: it learns your product, writes openings and scripts, produces vertical videos, carousels and images, and tracks which content works. You decide what gets published.

We explain the difference in the "Not a tool, a system" guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can people tell it was made with AI?

Sometimes. That is why the aim is not to fool the viewer but to explain the product clearly and quickly. Label realistic AI images.

Which products does it work for?

Products that can be shown visually and solve a problem: cosmetics, household goods, accessories, tech, food. For businesses that sell the experience itself (a restaurant's atmosphere, a clinic's service), backing it with real footage is stronger.

Can I use it in ads?

Yes, as long as you follow Meta's AI content rules and labelling requirements.

How many videos should I make?

Don't expect results from a single video. Test several openings for the same product and post regularly.

I don't have professional product photos. Is that a problem?

Sharp product photos taken with a phone are usually enough to start.

Epnex DigitalBuilds automation and AI systems that hand the work businesses do by hand every day over to software. The system runs on your own server; the data and the control stay with you.
